At least 30,000 people filled a parking lot turned outdoor arena at FYF Fest last night in Los Angeles, all to see Kanye West. And he did not disappoint. Hitting the stage solo, with an all black set, Yeezy appeared as though he'd just landed from the future, Close Encounters of the Third Kind style, emerging through a cloud of smoke and a low hanging ceiling of lights while guitar rifts wailed, sending a wave of excitement through the crowd. Frank Ocean, whom Yeezy replaced as the festival's Saturday headliner, came through the speakers singing "No Church in the Wild." 

Kanye jumped on his verse with vigor and went right into "Stronger," where he couldn't resist throwing shade at his ex Amber Rose with the line, "I did anything for a blonde dyke and she did anything for the limelight and we did anything when the time was right." But he kept it moving and kept it positive as his wife, Kim Kardashian and her tribe partied backstage posting photos to Instagram.

He seemed genuinely happy, joking with the stage crew to raise the lighting fixture so that he didn't bump his head because he was about to "get hype." And then came "Power," just before running through a catalog of his hits –– including "N***as in Paris," "All Day," "Can't Tell Me Nothing," "Theraflu," "New Slave," and "Mercy." He told the crowd, "I want y'all to see what good music feels like. I want y'all to have the time of your lives tonight." 

Yeezy did, in fact, teach us how to do just that, bringing out surprise guest Travi$ Scott, who performed "Upper Echelon" alongside 'Ye before hitting the crowd with his own jam, "All We Know." Then, Yeezy took us back to 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and performed a thrilling remix of "Runaway" as the crowd sang along, toasting all of the "douchebags" and "scumbags."

Suddenly, things got quiet. The heavens opened up. The stripped down "FourFiveSeconds" began to play, and the jumbotron showed a hoodie-clad Rihanna singing the hook from the pit below the stage. Needless to say, the crowd went wild. Kanye smiled, a knowing smile, and then charged back up with "Jesus Walks."  

With only seven minutes left in his hour-long set, Kanye plays his first major single, "All Falls Down," before telling the audience he's going to give us a hit a minute until the show is over. He wasn't messing around. He hit us with "Gold Digger," "Touch the Sky," and "All of the Lights," for which Rihanna joined him onstage, followed by "Good Life," where he told the crowd, "I hope y'all are having as good a time as me tonight." 

In keeping with the good vibes, Kanye closed the show with "Only One" the song dedicated to his late mother, Dr. Donda West and his daughter North. He laid on his back under the canopy of lights and sang his heart out until the fixture descended low, hovering just above him, and the stage faded to black. 

What more could a true fan ask for?
