Yvonne Orji Says She’s Still A Virgin At Age 39
Yvonne Orji recently revealed that she is a virgin, and it seems that our girl is about to break, but her faith is keeping her strong.
Back in 2017, the "Insecure" alum revealed she was saving herself for marriage, and today that declaration stands. In a recent interview on the "Dear Chelsea" podcast, hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler, Orji confirmed she remains in the V club, as reported by USA Today.
"I am!" Orji said when Handler asked if she was still a virgin.
"Oh my god, I love this," Handler responded. "This is the most original guest we've ever had on! And what are you, 39?"
"That damn is gonna break one day, baby," Handler quipped.
The "Vacation Friends 2" star also said that people tend to shower her with concern regarding her virtuous nature, but she insists it's her future husband who needs concern.
"Pray for him. Whoever he is ... pray for him, because there is a lot of pent-up energy up in here with me."
"If you know any good men, Chelsea, send them my way, please," she continued.
"You're going to hit your sexual peak when you start having sex, so you're going to need a couple of men, probably," Handler joked.
"Yvonne went from being a virgin to polyamory," Orji quipped.
In 2017, Orgi hosted her first TEDx talk entitled "The wait is sexy," and revealed that she made a vow as a teenager to save herself for marriage after attending an on-campus bible study in college.
"And by the time I knew it, y'all, I'd been bamboozled by Jesus," she said. "I got saved at 17. I told him I was going to wait till 18, and he swooped in at 17 and now, 33 and still waiting. It's all good, though. I don't mind the wait."
That same year, Orji opened up on what it was like to film sex scenes while portraying a sexually liberated character named Molly on "Insecure."
"It’s so funny when someone’s like, 'For someone who hasn’t had sex, you play this character very well.' I’m just like, 'If you only knew. I’m under sheets, wrapped like a mummy.' Thankfully on our show, the guys do all the work," she told the outlet.
In 2021, she published her first book, "Bamboozled By Jesus: How God Tricked Me into the Life of My Dreams," in which she talks about her faith and the success she has experienced in her career.
