Summer Walker Tells Crowd Why She Doesn’t Feel Comfortable Performing Certain Songs
For any Summer Walker fans wondering why you’re not hearing some of your favorite records now that we’re outside, the Still Over It artist gets candid and explains why you may not hear certain songs from her catalog.
During a recent Atlanta performance, the “Ex For A Reason” singer gave an explanation to her fans on why they won’t hear songs like “Reciprocate,” “Throw It Away,” and “Session 33,” amongst other songs from the new album because it still feels like a “fresh wound.”
“I want y’all to know that this s**t is real,” she explains.
“I write a lot of my stuff. I write most of my stuff and it’s still a fresh wound. My baby, she not even 1 yet and I ain’t got time to be singing that s**t, crying in front of y’all. So, I sang what I could and I hope that y’all still enjoy the show.”
While we may not hear the records live, it’s clear the LP stays in the rotation on audiences' playlists as the album has landed on numerous “Best Album” lists, including Billboard’s 50 Best Albums of 2021 — landing at #17 and an honoree spot at this year’s Billboard: Women In Music award ceremony where she will be receiving the Chartbreaker Award.
