Angela Davis, educator and activist most known for her fervent support for civil rights and issues surrounding private prisons, was arraigned in New York, after being added to FBI's list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, for her alleged role in the escape attempt of an African-American inmate on trial for the death of a prison guard. Davis would spend nearly 18 months in jail before being acquitted in June 1972.
