Sherri Shepherd Claims Ex-Husband 'Defrauded' Her With Surrogate Baby

Plus, Apollo Nida pleads with judge for leniency in sentencing.

Things are getting very ugly between Sherri Shepherd and her estranged husband, Lamar Sally. The couple, who each filed for divorce from the other in recent weeks, are now in court over custody of their unborn baby, TMZ reports.
Rather than fight over custody of the infant, however, Shepherd is asking a family court judge to rule that she has no parental rights or responsibilities over the unborn child. Shepherd claims the baby, who is being carried by a surrogate, was conceived using Sally's sperm but not her egg. She also alleges that the baby is a ploy for Sally to extract massive child and spousal support payments from her.
By contrast, sources close to Sally say that Shepherd had tried to get pregnant via in vitro fertilization but was unsuccessful, and then became "deeply involved" in the surrogacy process.
In another courtroom several states away, Apollo Nida faced his own drama this past week. The Real Housewives of Atlanta regular, whose wife, Phaedra Parks, is one of the leading ladies of the show, is asking a judge presiding over his fraud trial for leniency in sentencing, RadarOnline.com reports.
Lawyers for Nida, who could receive 30 years behind bars for his crimes at the July 8 sentencing, requested the Atlanta district court to change his status from Criminal History Category V to Criminal History Category IV. The difference could mean a substantial reduction in time served should Nida be convicted.
