You Won't Believe How Much Cash Mayweather Is Supposed to Bank in His Superfight With McGregor
After heavy speculation, it's official — Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face UFC superstar Conor McGregor in a mega boxing bout on August 26 in Las Vegas.
While people continue to question the legitimacy of an MMA fighter trying his hand at the Sweet Science against the best boxer of this generation, there aren't any questions about how much financial sense this superfight makes.
That's because TMZ Sports is reporting that Mayweather expects to make between $200 million and $300 million for the McGregor fight, although the exact terms haven't been disclosed just yet. When asked about the purse on the red carpet of the All Eyez on Me movie premiere, "Money" laughed it off and said, "I can't talk about that," before adding, "both parties are very happy. He's very happy, I'm very happy and I can't wait."
UFC president Dana White previously told TMZ that McGregor will bank roughly $100 million for the superbout.
With heavy cash like that, can you blame Mayweather and McGregor for going so hard to make this a reality?
We see McGregor aiming for the knockout early, before Mayweather gets in his bag and figures out the UFC superstar, picking him apart and cruising to his 50th victory.
