Mazaradi Fox, an affiliate of G-Unit, was shot and killed in Queens, New York, yesterday afternoon. Police report that the rapper was sitting in his SUV when a ski-masked gunman opened fire on the vehicle. Fox, real name Jamal Green, made it out of the car, but police say he collapsed in a nearby driveway. He was pronounced dead on the scene when they arrived at 4:11 p.m. Three passengers were wounded, according to NY Daily News: a 22-year-old man who was shot in the arm, a 21-year-old man who was in critical condition after being shot in the neck and shoulder, and a 20-year-old woman whose neck was grazed by a bullet. ThisIs50.com reports that she is Fox’s daughter. The survivors were taken to local hospitals.

Fox, 42, was a childhood friend of 50 Cent. He never officially signed to G-Unit, but recorded songs with 50 and appeared in several of the crew’s videos. Fox, who was making music on his own label, Dumont, was released from prison on December 20, having served a two-year sentence for attempted assault. He was also reportedly convicted for attempted murder in 1998. The MC was murdered at the corner of Farmers Blvd. and 134th Avenue, in his native South Jamaica neighborhood.

A representative for 50 released a statement yesterday: "50 Cent was in his New York studio and was saddened when he heard the news. He sends his condolences to Mazaradi’s family." 

The hip hop star took to Twitter as well: "Saddened by the news of Mazaradi's tragic passing my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends #smsaudio." G-Unit member Tony Yayo also tweeted about his slain friend: "RIP the Fox Southside."
