Lil Wayne Releases Sorry 4 the Wait 2 Mixtape
It's here. Amid the shocking break from Cash Money, which came with the reveal that Baby is orchestrating a hold on the world-wide anticipated release of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V, Weezy went ahead and dropped a prequel, Sorry 4 the Wait 2.
"#S4TW2 is out now on My Mixtapez," were the lone words posted to his website Wednesday morning (Jan. 21), along with the prompt to get the collection off the new streaming/downloading app, and an image of the tape's cover art, one of his arms busting loose from a pair of handcuffs.
As for the music, Wayne opens with a take on O.T. Genasis's "Coco" for the explanation. "I'm sorry for the wait, I'm sorry for the wait," he spits. "Tha Carter gon' be late, so I cooked up a tape./ The garden's full of snakes, so I had to escape./ Lil homie gon' be straight, lil homie gon' be straaaaaight!"
Phew. Now that we know that, Weezy commences to take on Rae Sremmurd's "No Type," Future's "S**t," Bobby Shmurda's "Hot N**a" and taps his rumored shorty, Christina Milian, for a remix of Beyoncé's "Drunk in Love."
2 Chainz, Drake (featured on an original track produced by Wondagurl) and Mack Maine are also among the features.
Weezy then closes out the 17-track effort with Meek Mill's "Dreams and Nightmares." "The money turned my n**as into monsters," he declares.
Tha Carter V is said to be the YMCMB founder's last solo album. No word yet on when we'll get it. Birdman is busy posting throwbacks of his music, 5 * Stunna.
