Jerry Jones was quick to snatch Michael Sam up and add him to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Wednesday. However, the Cowboys owner thinks the rookie defensive end still needs a lot of work.

"We are looking for pressure players," Jones told the Associated Press. "That's his position...we hope he can refine his skills. He's not ready to go at all."

Despite that sentiment, there's no doubting that the Cowboys defense can use a young defensive player. Last season, Dallas was the league's worst defense, one that allowed a whopping 6,645 yards. That being said, just because the Cowboys owner believes that Sam has a ways to go, doesn't mean everyone in the organization agrees. Former Cowboys great Emmitt Smith told Sports Illustrated that, based on the Cowboys defense, there's a "tremendous opportunity for Michael Sam to play this year."

Right now, Sam is just going to be a spectator when the Cowboys open up the 2014 season against the San Francisco 49ers.
