Rest In Power: A Fan Favorite ‘ANTM’ Contestant Is Dead At 34
Jael Strauss, former contestant of America's Next Top Model's eighth cycle, has reportedly passed away from breast cancer. She was 34-years-old.
According to TMZ, a source close the former reality star revealed that she passed away in hospice on Tuesday (Dec. 04). The source explained that Strauss' health began to decline on Monday night after she'd been unconscious for several days.
Strauss revealed her aggressive stage IV breast cancer diagnosis in October. “I was gonna write some long thing but some of you guys deserve to know, On October 2nd I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. It has aggressively spread throughout my body and is incurable," she explained to fans in a post on Facebook.
After sharing her diagnosis on social media, Strauss' friends created a GoFundMe to help cover the costs related to her treatment. Within its two months, the crowd fund raised over $18,000.
Strauss would go on to announce her decision to forgo chemotherapy treatment on Halloween and revealed that she checked into a hospice facility on Thanksgiving.

After finishing sixth place on America's Next Top Model in 2007, Strauss appeared on 'Dr. Phil,' where she addressed her struggles with addictions in 2012.
This past August, she beamed with pride as she celebrated five years of sobriety."Today I have 5 years sober. Good God! I know a few things to be true: Miracles are real, Recovery is possible for everyone no matter how far gone you think you are, We are never too broken to be put back together," she shared on Instagram.
Jaslene Gonzalez, winner of ANTM cycle 8, took to Twitter with a tribute to Strauss. "Guys, I heard about #jaelstrauss passing today and I'm so sad about it. I wish I could of seen her once more. She was going through a whole lot. We don't know for what reasons, but man she was one of the strongest I knew," Gonzalez reflected.
