Man Who Accused Kevin Clash of Underage Sex Exposed
The man who allegedly exposed voice actor Kevin Clash to his Sesame Street bosses for sexual abuse has been exposed — an aspiring model with a history of arrests, including allegedly robbing a former boss of a $250,000 gold necklace at knifepoint in 2009, passing a bad check and reckless driving. In addition, his mother, Felicia Stephens, 48, was arrested in 2011 for attempted murder — allegedly stabbed her husband with scissors. She is free on bail pending trial in Pennsylvania.
The 24-year-old man, identified by The Smoking Gun as Sheldon Stephens, recently dropped accusations against Clash in which he claimed Clash had sex with him when he was 16. Clash has maintained his innocence since the allegations became public, but acknowledged he did have a relationship with Stephens when he was a legal adult.
Stephens, at the time unnamed, contacted Clash's bosses at Sesame Street and claimed he had been in a sexual relationship with the voice actor when he, Stephens, was a minor. Lawyers for Sesame Street investigated the matter and granted Clash a leave of absense to deal with the legalities. Almost immediately thereafter, Stephens dropped the accusations.
It's unclear when or if Clash, who is the iconic voice of Elmo, will return to work on Sesame Street. But for now, it seems his legal troubles are over.
