G Herbo Arrested In Chicago For Illegal Gun Possession

The Chicago rapper was bonded out of jail on Monday morning.

G Herbo was reportedly arrested Sunday evening (July 9) over illegal possession of a firearm.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Windy City rapper (real name Herbert Wright III) was charged with misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon and bonded out of police custody the following morning.

On Sunday, Chicago Police reportedly pulled over the 27-year-old’s Cadillac Escalade for failing to use a turn signal at the River North intersection of Wabash Avenue and Ontario Street just before 6 p.m. local time. The arrest report reveals that the officer driving the unmarked police vehicle began tailing the Cadillac because of its tinted windows.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the police report states that Herbo, seated in the back, moved his hands toward the front center console. Officers then determined the gesture was one typically made “to conceal contraband.” As the cops continued to press the rapper, the driver admitted there were guns in the car. They subsequently discovered four firearms in the vehicle, according to the report.

Three other men were in the Escalade with G Herbo, with the rapper being arrested and charged with unlawfully possessing guns. A police database reportedly showed that he had neither a valid firearm owner’s ID card nor a concealed carry license. He is also on probation.

The Tribune reports that an assistant state’s attorney declined to press felony charges for the alleged illegal gun possession. A judge set Herbo’s bond at $5,000, which he posted before being released on Monday.
