Jason Weaver to Star in New Season of Tyler Perry’s ‘Sistas’
Former child star Jason Weaver is joining the cast of Tyler Perry’s Sistas for its sixth season airing later this month on BET.
This week the veteran actor took to social media to thank the filmmaker “as well as the rest of the awesome cast and crew of @sistasonbet for the beautiful experience of being able to work alongside with all them for S6.”
Weaver will take on the recurring role of Brian–a new character in the series. In his post, he shared it was a “pleasure” to work on the set before he went on to gush about his journey working with the show’s creator.
“Overall, I gotta say that my experience of working for Mr. Perry was an amazing opportunity that I’m truly grateful for,” he continued. “His studio and the level of BLACK EXCELLENCE that he and his team display every day on his productions is so INSPIRING to see/experience.”
Fans on social media appear eager to see Weaver in his new role, including one Instagram user who commented under the actor’s announcement post, “Your talents are immeasurable. Ecstatic to see you back on the tizzube!”
Weaver is best known for his performance as Marcus Henderson from the popular 90s sitcom Smart Guy and as young Michael Jackson in the biopic, The Jacksons: An American Dream. However, he may be perhaps best remembered for providing the singing voice for young Simba in Disney’s 19994 animated movie, The Lion King.
Tyler Perry’s Sistas will premiere on May 31st only on BET and BET+.
