Indiana Man Arrested At Doja Cat Concert After Alleged Bomb Threat

He told other concertgoers in Indianapolis that he had a bomb inside his backpack.

A man was arrested in Indianapolis, Indiana, on charges of telling Doja Cat concertgoers that he had a bomb in his backpack so he could cut the line.

According to the IndyStar, on Saturday night (Jan. 8), Indianapolis police cleared a crowd near Monument Circle for an estimated 20 minutes following the man’s bomb threat. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer William Young told the news outlet that the man is in custody as the investigation continues. Officer Young says there is no bomb and no other threat to the community.

“A Fan wanted to advance in line so he exercised very poor judgment and told those around him in line he had a bomb in his backpack,” Deputy Chief Joshua Barker said via text message. “Someone did the right thing and alerted IMPD. The backpack was clean.”

Indianapolis was the host for the thousands of people in town for the College Football Playoff national championship game occurring on Monday (Jan. 10). The downtown area had many concerts happening, including the free outside Doja Cat concert at Monument Circle. All of the aforementioned festivities went on (and will continue) while frigid temperatures capture the air.

The IndyStar further notes that when concert organizers announced the show last year, they mentioned that gates would open at 5 p.m. and it would be a first-come-first-serve basis.

The show still went on. However, Doja Cat stopped the show for a brief moment once two fans began fighting before the performance continued on, TMZ reported.
