Millie Jackson and Sheila E. Coming to New York City
August will be a hot month in the Big Apple for the B.B. King Blues Club.
On August 4th, the venue will feature what many call the first Lil' Kim — Millie Jackson. The two-time Grammy nominee is known for songs like "A Child of God (It's Hard to Believe)," "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right," and her biggest hit, 1973's "It Hurts So Good." Millie's edgy content, which included everything from sleeping with married men to oral sex, was groundbreaking for its time. Jackson's return to New York City will be a show not to miss — guaranteed to be raunchy, sassy, and packed with her impeccable singing, which is far too often overlooked.
On August 29th, Prince's protégé and iconic drummer, Shelia E. will be rocking the stage at the B.B. King Blues Club. Sheila E. is known for songs like Prince's "Erotic City," "A Love Bizarre" and the 1984's classic "The Glamorous Life." In addition, Sheila is a part of hip hop history. In 1985, she starred opposite Blair Underwood in the hip hop epic Krush Groove, which featrued Run-D.M.C., LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys.
Sheila E. has worked with everyone from Marvin Gaye to The Beatles' Ringo Starr and famously toured with Prince during the iconic Purple Rain Tour (Sheila E. also joined Prince on several subsequent world tours). This seasoned performer will definitely bring the funk to the B.B. King Blues Club.
Between Millie Jackson and Sheila E., the B.B. King Blues Club may never be the same!
