Golden Globes 2023: Here’s Every Black Entertainer Nominated For Next Year’s Show
The 80th annual Golden Globes officially announced their nominees for the 2023 show and Black entertainers have come away with several nods.
Comedian Jerrod Carmichael has been tapped to host the upcoming awards, which is set to air live from the Beverly Hilton on Tuesday (Jan. 10) on NBC and its streaming service Peacock.
Viola Davis is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for The Woman King; Jeremy Pope for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama in The Inspection; Angela Bassett for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; Zendaya for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama in Euphoria and Quinta Brunson for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary) is also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series; Donald Glover (Atlanta) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy; and Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph are both nominated for their performances in Abbott Elementary for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series. The ABC show is also nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
Rihanna and Tems are both nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture for their tracks “Lift Me Up,” in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Director Ryan Coogler is also nominated for his contribution to the song.
