Jay Z and Rita Ora Have Settled Their Differences
The pair’s working relationship was reportedly very strained, especially after Beyoncé released her LEMONADE album with the now-infamous lyric. It seems, though, that Ora’s time with Roc Nation is over after she was sued for $2.4 million for breaching the terms of her contract and not providing the adequate number of albums she signed on for.
A document filed to the New York Supreme Court this week reveals that the two musicians have settled out of court and Rita is free to chose a new label if she desires to record and release new music.
A source told The Sun that Ora is “overjoyed” that she can give her fans new music and is looking to move on with her musical career. “Rita is overjoyed she can finally start discussions with other labels, which have been waiting on this case to be resolved,” the source said. “Once filming wraps on Fifty Shades, she will finalize a new deal and start work on recording her new album.”
The insider also said her label dispute was never with the bossman as she has a lot of respect for Jay. “She wants to get back to what she loves,” they claim. “She has a lot of respect for Jay Z and is grateful for everything he has done for her career. This was never a dispute with him.”
Rita Ora originally sued Jay Z to get out of her contract in February, which prompted him to counter sue for the $2.4 million. Her frustration with Roc seemed to stem from the fact that the label wouldn’t put out her second album, even though it had been done for a while.
Ora signed with Hov back in 2008 as he was hoping she would be one of the next big things for his label. She released her debut and only album under Roc Nation in 2012 with Ora.
