Janelle Monae Hilariously Parodies Michael Jackson's Infamous Balcony Moment
Janelle Monae’s sense of humor was on full display recently when she recreated Michael Jackson’s infamous Berlin incident. The late King of Pop made headlines in November 2002 when he dangled his then nine-month-old son, Blanket, over a hotel balcony during a stay in Berlin.
In the brief clip uploaded by X user @spicebae_, the “Make Me Feel” songstress could be seen wearing a black wig and red shirt, similar to MJ's outfit, carrying her cyber dog in place of baby Blanket, as she walked toward an open window in her room.
With a white handkerchief placed on top, Janelle momentarily dangled it over the balcony before quickly pulling it back, looking perplexed. The “Hidden Figures” star then returned briefly to wave at fans before covering her face with a curtain and throwing a towel into the crowd.
The video's caption read, “Janelle Monae so damn unserious bc why tf she dangling that robot out the window like she MJ.” Another social media user echoed those sentiments, writing, “This might be the funniest s—t I seen in a while cause why did she do that ???”
Janelle is currently in Europe for the Music of the Spheres World Tour. She is scheduled to perform in Dusseldorf, Germany on July 20, 21 and 23.
