Report: Playboi Carti Arrested On Drug And Weapon Charges In Atlanta
Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti was reportedly arrested on drug and guns charges after he was pulled over in his Lamborghini by the police on Thursday (April 2).
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported that Carti was initially stopped because he was driving around with an expired tag. When the police conducted a search of the vehicle, officers discovered 12 bags of marijuana, three guns, Xanax, codeine and oxycodone, according to a news release from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
Carti was consequently arrested alongside another man named Jaylan Tucker and taken to the Clayton County jail. The Clayton County Sheriff’s release, which was shared on Facebook, states that “both men are now facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest paramilitary jail known as the Hill-ton.” They also posted an image allegedly showing the firearms and drugs that were recovered from Carti’s car.
The rapper’s manager has since confirmed to AJC.com that he was released from jail on bond Friday morning (April 3). Per court records obtained by Pitchfork, he’s facing charges for being in illegal possession of drugs and firearms.
Suffice to say, this isn’t the kind of news Carti's fans were looking forward to as it could further delay the release of his long-awaited Whole Lotta Red album. See their reactions to his arrest below:
