Ice Cube Says Friday Will Get Made With or Without Chris Tucker
After saying that the next installment of the Friday franchise would be about Chris Tucker — in hopes the comedian would join the tentative film — Ice Cube says the film will be made with or without him.
In an interview with Huffington Post, Cube was asked about Tucker’s statement this past summer on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, saying he didn’t know if he’d return to part four of Friday and that the magic of the first installment wouldn’t be there.
“Well, my magic is still here so the movie is going to get done,” Cube responded. “The movie is going to be funny… He’s more than welcomed to be a part of it … But for whoever’s down, the movie is going to get made… One person isn’t going to stop the show.”
About the film actually getting made, Cube said the script is written and all he is waiting for are notes from New Line Cinema.
While he hasn’t offered any actors roles yet, Cube does have a piece of a professional advice for Tucker, who he seems to really want in the film. “You should never out grow your fans,” Cube advised. “If the fans want him to do this movie, that’s what we’re in this for, then that’s what he should do.”
