Gayle King Helped Plan Son's Recent Engagement
Gayle King is thrilled about her son’s latest milestone.
On Monday (Feb.26), the "CBS Mornings" co-host took to social media to share exciting news of her son, William Bumpus Jr.'s engagement to Elise Smith. In her post, King also revealed that she and her bestie, Oprah Winfrey, helped plan the surprise proposal.
"It has happened! Favorite son @willgb3 has found his person and I now have a favorite daughter-in-law to be: The lovely @elisemariesmith!" wrote King in the caption of the post on Instagram.
"There were a lot of cooks in the kitchen and a lot of planning went into this moment," she continued.
One of those cooks included Winfrey, who is seen brainstorming where the photographer should take position.
Another frame captured the couple walking down a path as Bumpus prepares to ask for Smith's hand in marriage. While getting down on one knee, King and Winfrey, along with others, watched from a nearby window. When Smith said "yes," a wave of cheers erupted.
"Now just waiting for the date of the wedding!" said King in the message.
King wrapped up her post with a frame of the newly engaged couple standing in the middle of a room as loved ones clapped with joy and sweet photos of the duo taken that day.
