Antonio Cromartie Throws Jab at Richard Sherman
Antonio Cromartie isn't ever trying to hear that Richard Sherman is the best cornerback in football.
Speaking to SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday, the New York Jets cornerback said the Seattle Seahawks cornerback cannot call himself the best corner in the NFL. Here's why...
"Richard Sherman is not the best cornerback in the NFL because he isn't forced to cover the opposing team's best wide receiver week in and week out," Cromartie said.
Cromartie added that he and teammate Darrelle Revis have continuously defended opposing teams' No. 1 wide receiver, while Sherman hasn't, relying on his Seahawks secondary to do so.
"Go play in a defense where you don't have two All-Pro safeties," Cromartie continued ripping into Sherman. "Go follow the No. 1 receiver. Follow him around for a whole entire game and see what you can do. Darrelle Revis has done it his whole career. I've done it, Patrick Peterson has done it, Joe Haden has done it. He's the only defensive back that hasn't.
"There's no point in critiquing him," Cro added. "If you want to label yourself as the best corner in the NFL, follow the best guy on every single team. His whole thing will be, 'We don't have to do that, I have my trust in the other corner on the other side.' That's not the point. If you want to consider yourself the best, the best do what the best do and they follow around the best. And that's what we're all getting to."
NFL analysts and fans thought that Revis took the title of best cornerback from Sherman last season with his solid 2014 campaign with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
