Rick Ross Is In The Business Of Making Music

In this exclusive BET.com interview, the "bawse" talks about his new label and what's important to them.

If there's one thing that can't be disputed about Rick Ross, it's that the Miami-based rapper has consistently dropped some of the best hip hop music in recent years. Now, the larger than life MC is putting that same energy into his Maybach Music team, making music the priority for the label.

"It’s just all about building our foundation on incredible artists and making incredible records," says Ricky Rozay. "At the end of the day, that’s what we are in the business for, making great music. The day you stop making hot music, you stop getting money. And that's exactly what we not gonna do."

On May 24, Ross will drop his compilation Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made Vol. 1, featuring himself and rest of the Maybach Music roster, including Wale, Meek Mill, and Pill (all featured on the album's cover). "These artists that you see me standing with as well as the rest of the roster that’s on Maybach Music, that’s what I personally believe in," says Ross.

On Tuesday, Ross will premiere the video for teh single "Play Your Part" on 106 & Park. He says the compilation album will add more great music to his resume. "Me coming from the ground up and it taking over 10 years to be in this game. I done seen everything from A to Z, so I think I got a pretty good ear. I got a lot of experience on putting records together, and that’s what it’s all about. May 24, get ready to experience some new fresh dope music."
