Sauce Walka In Recovery After Being Hit In Double Shooting
Houston rapper Sauce Walka is reportedly in stable condition after he was shot in downtown Memphis on Saturday, March 22.
According to KHOU 11, that afternoon, Walka, real name Albert Mondane, was among two individuals shot on Lt. George W. Lee Avenue around 2:42 in the afternoon. The second victim, who has not been identified, died in the shooting. Mondane, who was shot in the thigh, was rushed to a local hospital.
The rapper’s father, Albert Walker, who also goes by “Poppa Sauce,” told KHOU 11 that his son, 34, was alert and recovering from his injuries. “Had it not been for God, my son would've been dead,” Walker told the outlet.
Memphis police said that the shooting was an “isolated incident” and not an act of “random violence” and while a vehicle was identified for a potential investigation, no arrests have been made.
“MPD is committed to bringing those responsible to justice and will be utilizing downtown camera footage and other technology available to aid in identifying everyone involved,” police assured the community in a statement.
While Mondane has not made a statement, the rapper’s Instagram page reposted Houston Texans safety C. J. Gardner-Johnson, who wished him a “speedy recovery.”
