Jordin Sparks Reveals Her Go-To Products For ‘Soft And Shiny’ Curls + Explains How Her Natural Hair Reflects Her Personality!
Jordin Sparks is Cantu Beauty’s newest brand ambassador! We’re not surprised, especially since the singer/songwriter is known for her extra-long tresses that beautifully cascades down her shoulders.
“I love that my hair is naturally curly,” Sparks shared with BET Lifestyle before describing her hair as soft and voluminous. “It's wild, it's free, and it’s fun—I feel like it represents my personality so well!”
During our chat with the long-time fan of the haircare brand, we were curious to know if she’s ever considered cutting her signature tresses. To our surprise she answered, “Oh my goodess, yes. I’ve considered cutting my hair plenty of times! I want to experiment with shorter styles.”
The busy mom went on to share that she already experiments with hair colors and may consider trying wigs to step outside her comfort zone. “I would love to try a short hairstyle. Maybe I do need to do a ‘big chop’ and start from scratch. We'll see. I don't know yet.”
Wigs may be a great option for the multi-talented entertainer, who admits that show business constantly keeps her in a salon chair and poses a concern when trying to keep her natural hair healthy.
“Not everybody knows how to do natural hair or mixed kid hair,” she noted. “Not all hair textures are the same.”
Like many of us, protective hairstyles are her go-to to prevent damage. “Right now, my hair is braided. That definitely helps with my hair [growth] because then I don't have to worry about breakage due to heat,” she expressed.
Sparks’ love for protective styles has been passed down to her 4-year-old son Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr., who is often spotted on his parents social media pages rocking fresh new braids.
“DJ definitely knows what he wants, he doesn't want to cut it. He is probably going to be rocking braids for a while. He has tight curls and braids keep his hair long and healthy,” she explained, noting her son keeps his braids fresh with durags, bonnets, and silk pillowcases. “He loves it and he'll remind us if we forget to wrap his hair up.”
