Ray Rice Has Some Sincere Advice For Greg Hardy

Ex-NFL rusher thinks controversial defensive end can learn from how he handled domestic violence incident.

If there's someone who could possibly relate to Greg Hardy, it's Ray Rice.

The former NFL running back was notoriously mired in a domestic violence incident just like Hardy, but the difference is the defiant Dallas Cowboys defensive end's football career continues, while an apologetic Rice still hasn't received another shot in the league.

Appearing on the Boomer & Carton Show on Thursday, Rice implored Hardy to be more sincere... before it's too late.

"One thing I would encourage Greg (to do) is to take a deeper look into what the severity of domestic violence is. It's better late than never," Rice said on the show, as reported by Bleacher Report. "You have to be sincere in your actions. Show it on and off the field. Take that uniform and use it for what it’s worth. You don't have to win another football game, you don't need another dollar to go out and make a difference in other peoples' lives."

Like the disturbing video of Rice punching his then-fiancée surfaced last September, images of Hardy's badly-bruised ex-girlfriend also hit the Internet just two weeks ago. The difference between the incidents comes with their respective aftermaths, with Rice sort of becoming a positive spokesperson against domestic violence and Hardy still showing a lack of regard.

Rice's advice to Hardy is heartfelt. Whether or not the embattled defensive end takes heed is up to him.

As for Rice, he continues to hold onto hopes that an NFL team out there will give him a shot.

"I've been trying to stay in football shape, staying ready and doing what I have to do," Rice told Boomer & Carton. "I let the agents take care of that part. It is something I'm going to keep pushing to do. I do want to play football again. If I don't have a second chance on the field with the NFL, I would love to work with them to help make a difference, speak to rookies or anybody else they wanted me to. I know I can make a difference."
