Jonathan Majors Dropped From Projects, Including Unannounced Otis Redding Biopic
The downward spiral of Jonathan Majors’ career continues.
Just one day after the Emmy-nominated actor was dropped by his management firm, Entertainment 360, Deadline now reports that Majors has also been released from several projects he was slated to star in, including the feature adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel, The Man in My Basement, an ad campaign for the Texas Rangers MLB team.
The breakthrough actor was set to star, and executive produce The Man in My Basement under his Tall Street Productions banner, but a search for his replacement has since begun.
The Dallas-based Texas Rangers were also forced to reconsider including the actor in their 2023 season ad campaign. Growing up, Major reportedly spent a significant amount of time in Dallas. The US Army made a similar decision and paused its advertising campaign featuring the actor in response to the ongoing scandal.
Majors was also in talks to spearhead an Otis Redding biopic from Fifth Season entitled Otis and Zelma. The film had the full support of Redding’s estate and was in its early stages of development, but now the actor is no longer being considered.
There’s been no word on recasting Majors’ Marvel character Kang the Conqueror, who is set to star in 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and 2026’s Avengers: Secret Wars. He is also still set to play Dennis Rodman in Lionsgate’s 48 Hours in Vegas.
Aforementioned, Majors had already parted ways with his management team and publicist The Lede Company, who cut ties with the Creed III star last month following the shocking news that the rising Hollywood star had been arrested in New York and was facing assault charges stemming from a domestic violence dispute involving a 30-year-old woman.
The name of the victim has still not been released. However, authorities said the individual was hospitalized with “minor injuries to her head and neck.”
The actor is due back in court on May 8.
