‘Insecure’: Denise Dowse In Coma From Meningitis
Veteran actress Denise Dowse continues to remain hospitalized in a coma after contracting meningitis, according to her sister Tracey Dowse.
Confirming the news with a Facebook post on Friday (Aug. 5), Tracey wrote in part:
“I am requesting support and prayers be offered me and my sister, and my only immediate family Denise Dowse. She is currently in the hospital in a coma brought on by a virulent form of meningitis. Her doctors do not know when she will come out of the coma as it was not medically induced.”
Adding, “She is a vibrant actor and director that should have many years ahead of her. Thoughts, prayers and support are greatly appreciated.”
Dowse has an extensive resume with several television credits from Issa Rae’s HBO Max show Insecure, where she played Dr. Rhonda Pine, to Girlfriends, Moesha, Sister Sister, Full House, Beverly Hills 90210, Grey’s Anatomy and more.
She will make her feature film directorial debut with the upcoming biopic Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story, which takes a deep dive into the story of the iconic gospel singer, her significant contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, and her friendship with Martin Luther King Jr.
