Gucci Mane Indicted on Federal Gun Charge
Gucci Mane could be facing up to 20 years in prison on federal gun possession charges, the Associated Press reports. The rapper was in court on Tuesday for arraignment on two counts of possession by a convicted felon.
Gucci, born Radric Davis, was caught on two separate occasions with loaded handguns in September and was arrested after "cursing and threatening" authorities following a distress call placed by his own friend. A small amount of marijuana and concealed weapons were found on his person. He was taken to a hospital for mental evaluation and later sentenced to six months in jail for probation violation.
If convicted on each count, Davis faces up to 20 years in federal prison and fines up to $500,000, court officials said.
The rapper will be detained until his trial, but it is unclear whether Atlanta officials will relinquish custody to federal officials. He has been in custody since the arrest on September 14.
