Jay-Z Addresses Rumors of Beef With Kanye West \r \r
Jay-Z made an impromptu visit to New York's Hot 97 radio station to do an interview with Angie Martinez. The Brooklyn MC quickly killed speculation that he’s been beefing with Watch the Throne co-collaborator Kanye West over tour logistics and other creative differences.
Addressing the rumors Jay told Martinez: “I know that we’re doing something right now,” he said. “When I woke up to [the rumors] I was like ‘Yeah we must be really hot right now.’ It’s happening.” Although he denies that there is any real beef between him and the rapper he considers a brother, Jigga does confirm that there is truth to the rumor that the pair have bumped heads.
“Yes we get on each other’s nerves. That’s part of pushing each other. We push each other.... People don’t like to be pushed. It’s annoying. It’s like a thing when people are pushing you to be greater and we push each other to be greater. So of course there are times when we’re in the studio, we’re yelling but that’s about it. I would never disrespect... him.”
Angie commented that she was surprised that Jay-Z would ever link up to work on an album and tour with another artist after the controversy surrounding Jay-Z and R. Kelly’s Best of Both Worlds project (2002). However, Jay states that the difference between that project and this one is simple, “Kanye’s my brother.”
As previously reported, promotors recently added more dates to the Watch the Throne tour due to overwhelming demand.
Jay-Z and Kanye’s upcoming album Watch the Throne is set for release August 8, and will be available on iTunes August 12.
