Watch Rep. Charles Rangel Get His Groove On
At 83, veteran New York Rep. Charles Rangel is one of the oldest and longest-serving members of Congress, but he's just as hip as some of its youngest — maybe more, given his sartorial swagger.
While waiting to go live in an interview with MSNBC, Rangel tweeted a video with the hashtag #HarlemShake of himself doing his version of the popular dance trend that went viral in 2013.
"What I like to do while I wait to go LIVE on air. #harlemshake," he wrote.
Rangel, a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, will run for a 23rd term this year. In what he has acknowledged will be a tough race, he will face in the Democratic primary Rev. Michael Walrond, ministries director at the National Action Network and pastor of First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem, and New York state Sen. Adriano Espaillat, who lost to Rangel in 2012.
