A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, and LeBron Are Bringing Black Style to Center Stage at the Met Gala
The men behind the upcoming 2025 Met Gala are widely recognized for being dressed to the nines.
Alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, named as co-chairs for the anticipated fashion event on May 5 are A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams and Lewis Hamilton, with LeBron James as honorary co-chair. Under the ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ theme, based on Monica L. Miller-authored academic book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,” the entertainers are sure to put on their best looks. Separately, Rocky and Williams are fashion designers, while Domingo, Hamilton, and James have been tapped for campaigns for Cos, Louis Vuitton, and Dior, respectively.
Below, we give a brief overview of what these men have brought to modern fashion.
A$AP Rocky
After naming brands Rick Owens, Raf Simmons, and Maison Goyard in his earlier material, A$AP Rocky has taken the fashion world by storm in an ongoing collaboration with PUMA and his ready-to-wear brand American Sabotage. The latter, which Rocky founded under his multihyphenate creative agency AWGE, debuted during Paris Fashion Week last June.
Colman Domingo
Although Colman Domingo doesn’t have a luxury fashion brand, the Emmy-winning actor epitomizes class and brilliance in his well-dressed flair. Last year alone, Domingo was involved in Neiman Marcus and Cos campaigns.
LeBron James
World-class NBA legend LeBron James is more known for being on the court than the runway, but last year, the athlete made his Louis Vuitton debut in Pharrell Williams’ first collection for the brand.
Lewis Hamilton
Along with being the founder of streetwear hub +44, professional race car driver Lewis Hamilton is considered among the most stylish men in sports and collaborated with Dior for a winter lifestyle collection last year.
Pharrell Williams
Fashion exemplary Pharrell Williams has been a one-of-a-kind leader in style for decades. Founding streetwear labels Billionaire Boys Club (BBC) and Ice Cream in the aughts, Williams was named men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton in 2023, succeeding late designer Virgil Abloh.
