'The Breakfast Club' Recap: The Cast of 'The Blackening' Sets Off Juneteenth Weekend

This week on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy chopped it up with Method Man, Ryan Coogler, Yvonne Orji and more.

We came in hot this week on The Breakfast Club, with one of the week's hottest topics involving the Anita Baker and Babyface situation. Anita Baker removed Babyface as a guest on her tour because she claimed that Babyface’s fans were harassing her. The entire situation had the internet aunties and uncles in an uproar.

Method Man stopped by on Monday to discuss various things, one being BET”s Greatest Rap Crew of All Time. Wu-Tang went against Death Row, which had rap history nerds baffled.

“I’m not disrespecting Death Row in any way shape or form. I love death row and everything they represented, I  just don’t know how it came down to Wu and Death Row,” explains Charlamagne.

Method Man said he was humbled either way, but Charlamagne and Envy said they felt that Wu-Tang and OutKast were a better mash-up.

What say you?

Ryan Coogler and Peter Nicks stopped by Tuesday to discuss their Hulu documentary, Anthem. It’s a unique musical journey across the United States where creatives help to reimagine the national anthem.

DJ Nyla Symone co-hosted with DJ Envy and Charlamagne on Hump Day, and the trio welcomed guest Toosii. Toossi talked about his music and shared his thoughts about defining love.

On Thursday, we met the cast of the upcoming horror-comedy, The Blackening. The movie appropriately comes out on Juneteenth weekend. It’s about a group of friends who spend a weekend together in a cabin in the wood, but a killer puts a damper on the weekend by threatening to kill the blackest person. It hilariously tackles classic horror tropes while tackling how we would likely handle certain scary situations if it were us.
