Lil Cease Responds to Rich Homie Quan Forgetting Biggie's Lyrics at Hip Hop Honors
When it comes to choosing artists to tribute our hip-hop legends, usually award show insiders select people who've worked closely with the artist being tributed before their death.
Well, that’s not exactly Rich Homie Quan in regards to The Notorious B.I.G., and the VH1 Hip Hop Honors paid for it. The Atlanta native never met Biggie and revealed that he may not be his biggest fan either last night (July 11) during a rendition of “Get Money.” Lil Kim, who did have significance in B.I.G.’s life as an extended member of the Bad Boy Records family, was also performing onstage with him when the gaffe happened.
Social media lost it ,with perhaps Lil Cease — who was a member of Biggie’s closely knit crew Junior M.A.F.I.A. — having the best response. He took to Instagram with a circulating meme of himself at an Alamo Rent a Car center holding Nintendo NES controllers and wearing a shirt donning the famed Biggie baby picture. It's a reference to RHQ's mistake, which had him rapping, "With Lil Cease at Alamo." Cease captioned it with the message, “So Yall Just Go Flood My Timeline Early Wit It Huh Look What Alamo Started Lmao Im Not Mad The At Rich Homie Tho..That Just Wasn't His Setting!! That's Still Da Homie #ItsAllGood.”
That makes one New York resident OK with Quan forgetting the lyrics. Others, like YouHeardThatNew’s Lowkey, had a harsher assessment of what happened. “Rich Homie Quan sincerely just committed career suicide. Wow,” he tweeted. “Who on the VH1 team said, ‘here's an idea lets get Rich Homie Quan’ for Biggie's verse....”
Rich Homie Quan’s been pretty quiet recently as far as music releases go. His most recent misstep may have him hitting the studio harder now in order change the minds of his fans and critics. Check out Lil Cease’s Instagram posting as well as RHQ and Lil Kim’s performance of “Get Money” below.
