Zoe Kravitz was born into cool with parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet shaping her individual boho style, but the 22-year-old is becoming a Hollywood star in her own right—even if she doesn’t want to be put on the pedestal. "All that ‘it girl’ sh*t makes me kind of uncomfortable," Kravitz told ASOS magazine, which she covers this month. "I'm in a very lucky position because I've been around [fame] so long, I don't feel the need to chase it," she said.

This summer she’s flexing her powers on screen playing the Marvel Comics mutant Angel Salvadore in X-Men First Class and off screen she’s been a stylish force to be reckoned with walking red carpets and the streets alike with outfits that are a mixed bag of rocker, hippie and ladylike vintage inspired sweetness—depending on what she feels like.

“I think [my style] definitely changes all the time. I don’t think about it too much,” Kravitz told BET.com. “I want to be comfortable and I think clothes are a good way to express yourself. I don’t take it too seriously. It's just about whatever I’ve been reading or been listening to or watching, you know, I will just pick things up that inspire me.”

This summer Zoë is into long, loose skirts and wearing vintage underwear as staple pieces. “I’m a big fan of like wearing old, vintage slips and stuff as outdoor wear," she said. “I got like a pair of these little silk bloomers. I think they were even like considered underwear in the '40s. I wore them as shorts the other day.”

Her makeup bag must-haves are testament to her effortless-looking beauty routine and simply include a good blush, coconut oil (“It’s all I use for my skin and my hair,” she says) and mascara. While she has the arrestingly gorgeous looks of her mother, Zoë admitted “in high school, I had a really difficult time just loving myself. It’s weird, I feel like in the world we live in today you’re not supposed to be like, ‘I’m beautiful,’ like that’s a conceited thing to say.” These days the star on the rise adopts a definition of beauty that everyone can stand to live by: “Beauty is when you can appreciate yourself. When you love yourself that’s when you’re most beautiful.”
