Woman Fired After Baking Laxative Brownies And Serving Them At A Coworker's Going Away Party
A Michigan woman was fired from her job after police discovered she baked laxatives in brownies she planned to serve at a co-worker’s going away party.
Police were able to confiscate the brownies after receiving a tip from a different employee on May 3. The co-worker told authorities they overheard the woman say she planned to put laxatives in brownies for the departing temp worker because she didn’t like them, according to Saline Police Chief Jerrod Hart.
Once the police were notified, the brownies were thrown out before they could be eaten, reported MLive
Then next day, the 47-year-old was questioned by police and denied putting laxatives in the brownies. The woman said she was joking, Hart said.
However, when police said the brownies would be forensically-tested for tampering, she admitted to baking in a cube of Ex-Lax, police said.
According to employees with the company, there has been much tension brewing between the temp employee and the 47-year-old woman.
While the unidentified woman admitted to drugging the brownies, no charges will be filed because no one ate the dessert.
"A lot of times you see it in movies or TV shows where someone tries to do this or play a joke, but it's very serious," Hart told MLive. "It's a criminal act."
