Report: Janet Jackson to Undergo Emergency Surgery on Her Vocal Cords
Janet Jackson had to pump the breaks on her Unbreakable World Tour recently and for good reason.
RadarOnline is reporting that the 49-year-old pop singer needs to have emergency surgery on her vocal cords after doctors found a tumor that could be cancerous.
“Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal cords that could be serious,” a source close to Jackson told the website. “It’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately.”
Janet Jackson’s tour was slated to begin January 9. She recently confirmed the surgery via an online post, but never mentioned why. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring,” she relayed. “Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time… There will be no further comment.”
There’s a possibility Janet may not be able to sing or even speak again if the growth on her vocal cords turns out to be cancerous. According to Dr. Stuart Fischer, “singing would be impossible” if it is cancer of the larynx.
This is the second time within a year that Janet Jackson has had to put a tour on hold due to medical reasons. In October, she canceled dates in order to give her voice a rest.
