Watch: Two Officers Caught High Fiving Moments After Killing Unarmed Paul O’Neal

Body cameras reveal shocking behavior by the CPD.

Last week, footage of killing of 18-year-old Paul O’Neal was released to the public. O’Neal was an unarmed Black teen killed by the Chicago Police after they suspected him of using a stolen Jaguar to ram into police vehicles.

After crashing the vehicle and fleeing on foot, officers chased O’Neal, where they eventually caught, beat and shot him. One officer shot O’Neal in the back, which ultimately killed him. Although the actual moment of the shooting is not caught on the body camera footage used, another disturbing moment has been revealed.

Shortly after O’Neal is killed by the police, two officers are seen doing what can only be described as a high five. An officer’s body camera captured the action, as well as some other questionable actions of the police.

CBS Chicago’s Charlie De Mar reported the actions of the officers through a series of tweets. After the shooting, one officer can be heard telling another officer to make “sure the body cam is off,” before they high five. Later on, another officer tells the shooting officer, “Help me find your casings and we will get you in a car before the [news] cameras get here.”

The behavior demonstrated by the officers will be under review during the pending investigation of the shooting.

Three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave.

You can watch the entire body camera footage below. The high five occurs about four minutes and 30 seconds in.
