According to TMZ, Plies was arrested on Tuesday (Jan. 17) on charges of driving under the influence.

Considering the viral videos that have earned him internet-sensation status — which normally take place as he’s behind the wheel — some people found the incident to be somewhat humorous. And joining the bunch of comic relievers came none other than his oft-compared Hollywood look-a-like, gospel singer Kirk Franklin.

When a Twitter user retweeted an article of Plies’s DUI bust, he captioned the photo with a mention of Franklin and his uncanny resemblance to the “Shawty” rapper.

“Free my n**ga  [Kirk Franklin],” the user wrote. “He ain’t do nothing but worship God.”

Because Franklin apparently hasn’t let his deep involvement in the church whisk him away from a merry sense of humor, he replied to the user’s tweet with a joke of his own.

“That’s funny, bro!,” he responded. “That’s all I did!”

His eye to the hip-hop community isn’t too much of a shock though, after his highly publicized assist on Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo album. The gospel-infused project had guidance from Franklin and also featured one of his most praise-worthy sermons on the “Ultralight Prayer” track. There is also his former deal with Plies in which Franklin promised to take him up on his strip club invite if the Florida rapper could sit through a three-hour church service and attend a church cookout afterward.

The deal never came to be. But, thankfully there’s no hard feelings between him and Pastor Plies.
