GloRilla Revises New Song After Facing Backlash Over Using ‘R-Word’
GloRilla recently showed she's open to feedback when she swiftly altered the lyrics of her song after fans criticized her use of the “R-word.”
It all went down when the Memphis-based rapper teased a track where she rapped the words, “Me and my b—ch r-word.” The snippet went viral almost immediately, quickly garnering backlash over the controversial term.
On Sunday, August 24, the 25-year-old star gave her social media followers a first listen to the updated version of her unreleased track. In a clip, Glo and two of her friends were seen dancing and rapping the new words, “H— you must not know what you just started/ Me and my b–ch got naughty.”
Fans online praised GloRilla for addressing their concerns, including an X user who commented, “Ok “naughty”. A considerate Queen.”
Another person added, “Other artist should take notes. When your fans give reasonable criticism about you using a slur in your music, change it. It’s simple.”
The rapper isn’t the only artist forced to make post-production revisions. Lizzo addressed a similar controversy surrounding her song “Grrrls.” The track faced backlash for including the ableist term “spaz.”
The “Rumors” singer responded swiftly, clarifying that she never wants to promote derogatory language.
