Meghan Markle is gearing up to become a first-time mother, which also extends to her own mother becoming a first-time grandmother.

Recently, in the wake of the news that Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, are expecting their first royal baby, Doria Ragland, the former actress' mother's reaction is being revealed.

Kensington Palace shared a statement with Entertainment Tonight on behalf of Ragland, stating she is "very happy about this lovely news, and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild."

As previously reported, Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together in the spring of 2019. 

The couple is currently in Australia as a part of their 16-day tour, which is set to visit Fiji, New Zealand and Tonga in the coming days.

"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public," the Palace shared in a statement, following the pregnancy announcement.
