MC Hammer Speaks Out Against Police Arrests at Occupy Oakland
MC Hammer expressed his opinions about the police's treatment of the Occupy Wall Street protesters in Oakland, California and he feels that kind of abuse "can never be tolerated." The Oakland native took to Twitter to criticize the force's use of tear gas and other weapons to disperse the crowd of about 1,000 near Frank Ogala Plaza at City Hall last week. More than 100 people were arrested during the clashes.
“The unabated abuse of the PEOPLE can never be tolerated!,” MC Hammer wrote. “They were expressing systemic frustration and pain, peacefully. You knew this would happen. You cannot eliminate the middle class and expect quiet resolution.”
The Oakland protesters had been gathering at the plaza for nearly two weeks to support Occupy Wall Street protesters who've been crying against corporate greed in New York City and inciting spin-off protests through out the country.
“The unification of the poor, the underserved and the middle class has begun,” Hammer tweeted. “The forgone conclusion is at hand.”
