Snoop Dogg Crowns Kendrick Lamar 'King of the West,' Again
Legendary hip-hop figure Snoop Dogg reaffirmed his belief that Kendrick Lamar is the new king of the West Coast following Lamar’s recent “The Pop Out—Ken & Friends” concert on Juneteenth in Los Angeles.
Despite being in Canada at the time, Snoop took a moment to commend Lamar for bringing together rappers, up-and-coming artists from the West Coast, dancers, creatives, and members of the Blood and Crip organizations in celebration.
“Sending a big shoutout to K.Dot and all the homies from the West that stood together, unified, organized, in peace [and] love,” the veteran said in a clip. “That was beautiful, that was fun to watch. Beautiful to see all of my peoples coming together. And, um, K.Dot... you are the king of the west. That's the kind of s—t kings do: we unite. We bring our peoples together.”
This isn’t the first time Snoop has praised Lamar. During a previous appearance on the Impulsive podcast with host Logan Paul, Snoop spoke highly of California's music scene and referred to Lamar as the king even back then.
Snoop expressed, “I did my thing with it for 20-something years as far as being the king of the West Coast, gave the crown to Kendrick Lamar — I didn’t give it to him; actually, he took it, but I had to take it off my head and give it to him. And he’s been running wild with it and the music that’s been coming out from the West has been very, very good.”
