Fat Joe is embracing his new role as “Uncle Joe” to Ashanti’s baby boy.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the “BET Hip Hop Awards” 2024 host gushed about reconnecting with his longtime collaborator and friend during this exciting new chapter in her life. He shared, “I am Uncle Joe, and she is the best mom in the world.”
The “Lean Back” emcee, a father of three, expressed his awe for the newborn, saying, “And that baby is beyond beautiful. When they let you see that baby — like Muhammad Ali, that baby.”
He continued, “I just kept bragging for like a week to every random person I met. I was like, ‘Her baby's crazy.’ Yo, he's so beautiful. God bless this baby. I'm just done. Nelly and Ashanti — you know, they are beautiful. I'm telling you, this baby is different; he’s like royalty, and he sits there like — I don't know how to explain it to you.”
Ashanti and Nelly’s romantic relationship blossomed in the early 2000s. The couple were together for four years before parting ways in 2013.
In September 2023, the “Hot in Here” rapper confirmed their rekindled romance during an appearance on the “Boss Moves with Rasheeda” show.
Less than a year later, on July 18, 2024, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Kareem Kenkaide.
