Ray Lewis Pleads With Baltimore: 'Violence is Not The Answer!'

Ex-Ravens great makes passionate video to city.

Ray Lewis played his entire 17-year NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, leading the team to two Super Bowl victories.

Having said that, it's easy to understand how the protests, riots and looting in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray—the 25-year-old man who died in police custody after suffering a severe spinal injury—hits home for Lewis.

The former Ravens captain took to the Internet on Tuesday, releasing a video of himself making an extremely passionate plea to Baltimore to stop the violence.

"No way this can happen in our city," Lewis said. "Young kids—you got to understand something. Get off the streets! Violence is not the answer. Violence has never been the answer. Freddie Gray...we don't do nothing for him doing this."

He added later: "Baltimore get off the streets! Kids go home! Stay home! You have no right to do what you're doing to this city. Too many hard-working people built this city."

His voice especially got emotional when mentioning that "there's too many babies paying attention to this craziness and the sad part is we got young kids trying to tell us how they're going to dictate our city."

He ended the video once again demanding to stop the violence, while telling kids to go home.
