Chi Ali Released From Prison After 12 Years
Chi Ali, a member of '90s progressive hip hop collective Native Tongues, has been released from prison after serving a 12-year bid for second-degree murder.
Word of Ali's release first broke when fellow '90s rapper Dres (Black Sheep) tweeted a pic of the newly freed MC two weeks ago. Now this week the Bronx-born rapper turned up in a photo posted on Twitter with Fat Joe and Lil Wayne. Joe, also a Bronx native, was shooting a music video for his new single, "Yellow Tape."
Ali was arrested in 2001 for the shooting death of his girlfriend's brother, Sean Raymond. He spent a year evading police and even appeared on an episode of America's Most Wanted.
Affiliated with A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and the Jungle Brothers, Ali was a child star who recorded his first album when he was just 14 years old. His biggest hit was the '90s classic "Age Ain't Nothin' But a #."
