Lamar Odom Says He’s Kicked His Drug Habit…And Relationships For Good

He also describes leaving his ex-fiancee at an Atlanta hotel without notice.

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom dropped an emotional Instagram post late last week, detailing why he left his ex-fiancee’ Sabrina Parr and claiming he is free of drugs, a porn addiction and relationships with women.

Titled, “A post for my exes,” Odom, 42, who was once named NBA Sixth Man of the Year, revealed that he walked out on Parr at the W Hotel in Atlanta a year ago, and described the relationship as “toxic.”

“A year ago yesterday I left my ex fiance’ at the W Hotel in Atlanta without notice. When she realized I was gone back to my home in San Diego she was livid,” Odom began the lengthy caption of his IG post. “I received over 250 calls and text messages over the course of last December from her wanting to fix us. We were toxic. Independently and collectively.

“One day, my soul opened up, light bulb went off and I wanted and needed to change for ME! My team had worked hard to get me a fresh start. I had to honor that,” he later added. “Today, I am free. Drug free. Marijuana free. Relationship free. I am rebuilding a relationship with myself. With my family. I am focused on my faith. My growth. My brand. I am a legend. I own that. I am a recovering addict. I own that too.”

Parr also added her take to the mix via Instagram. She similarly described the relationship as unhappy and detailed the abuse she faced.

"A year ago today, I officially walked away from my ex-fiance,” she captioned the post featuring pictures of her upcoming book and herself. “I did not tell a soul (not even him); I just left! I knew the more I continued to talk about my unhappiness, the more I would stay comfortable being in it."

The Atlanta-based influencer added that she was preparing to marry Odom, who she didn’t name, but "was scared, hurt, and unsure of the outcome" at the time.

"But I knew if I stayed, I would never be free," she continued.

Lamar also seemed to reference Sabrina’s yet-to-be-released book, titled The Freedom in Walking Away: How to Regain Your Life Piece by Peace, writing in the caption of his post: "Do not believe everything you read. Luckily my team keeps record of EVERYTHING so I am reminded of how far I have come. I have not arrived yet. I will not let troubled exes from my past haunt me. I will stand in my truth."

Back in May, Odom told Good Morning America he was “feeling amazing” about his sobriety after receiving treatment at a ketamine clinic. For two years, he received small doses of the drug under supervision and described the treatment as “the healthy high.”
