Jamal Woolard, Actor in Notorious, Arrested for Domestic Violence
Jamal Woolard, the actor who portrayed the late Notorious B.I.G. in the 2009 film Notorious, was arrested for domestic violence in Georgia's Gwinnett County Saturday night (June 7).
Authorities busted Woolard, 38, after responding to a 911 call placed by his stepson, TMZ reports. Law enforcement sources say that the boy witnessed the alleged altercation and told police, "Dad hit mom."
Police booked Woolard on charges of battery, simple assault and cruelty to children.
Woolard, who hails from Brooklyn, like Biggie, got his big break playing the late MC in the popular bio pic. The stocky actor, standing at 6 feet 3 inches, bears a close resemblance to Big and gained an extra 50 pounds to further authenticate his role. Before establishing his acting career, Woolard broke into the entertainment business in 2006 as the rapper Gravy.
According to his IMDB profile, Woolard has acted in three other films since Notorious, the most recent being Another Stateside, which is about the struggles of a Marine who returns back to the U.S. from Afghanistan.
