BET Awards 2022: 5 of the Most Successful Female Emcees to Ever Take the Crown of ‘Best Female Hip Hop Artist’
Before we know it, the BET Awards 2022 will be here, and it’s sure to be a celebration you won’t want to miss. The night will be filled with unforgettable performances, guest appearances, and over a dozen award presentations.
Culture's biggest night will happen live on Sunday, June 26th at 8 pm ET and is hosted by award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson, but before then, here are the five of the most successful female emcees ever to take home the crown of “Best Female Hip Hop Artist.”
Megan Thee Stallion
Texas native Megan Thee Stallion took home the “Best Female Hip Hop Artist” honors at the BET Awards 2020. The “Cry Baby” rapper returned to the BET stage to reclaim her title the following year.
Missy Elliott
Grammy Award-winning rapper Missy Elliott became the first female act to win “Best Female Hip Hop Artist” three times in a row, from 2002 to 2004, before New York native Remy Ma dethroned her. Missy later earned the trophy in 2006 and once more in 2008.
Nicki Minaj
Queen native Nicki Minaj holds the record for the most recognized star with 11 nominations and seven wins. She first earned the title in 2010 and would do so until the BET Awards 2017, when it went to Remy Ma.

Cari B.
Like her WAP collaborator, Cardi B. has also won in this category twice. She earned the title in 2018 and again in 2019, where she dominated over a class of highly talented women, including Nicki Minaj, Remy Ma, Kash Doll, Lizzo, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Eve
The first lady of Ruff Ryders, Eve was the first-ever recipient of the “Best Female Hip Hop Artist” at the BET Awards 2010. The “Who’s That Girl” emcee beat out several rap legends, including Da Brat, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, and Trina.
