This Two-Year-Old Picks a Black Doll Because She Thinks It Looks Like Her
In a world where turning off the news could sometimes be considered self care, we're always elated to see positive stories in the media cycle — especially positive stories regarding race relations.
Well, luckily we have one to share with you today and we're willing to bet it will warm even the coldest of hearts.
A 2-year-old and her mom were in the checkout line at Target, ready to purchase a doll. The cashier apparently asked the little girl if she would like a doll that looked more like her, as the girl is white and the doll she chose was Black. Her answer? "Yes, she does. She's a doctor like I'm a doctor. And I'm a pretty girl and she's a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?"
Ah, kids, such pure souls unpoisoned by hateful ideology. Now, if only a 2-year-old could be president. We're willing to bet policy implementations would be much more just and empathetic instead of hot garbage like this.
Read the little girl's mom's account of the happening below and bask in what will likely be one of the only positive news items this week.
